BOUTCHER SCHOOL

We built a pupil development centre and a peace garden that surrounded it, for this listed late victorian, C of E primary school in Bermonsey.

The stainless steel laser cut screens were created in collaboration with the children at the school. We set up an art workshop and asked them to create images to be cut into circles. The screens helped create a sense of private space and intrigue while playfully reflecting the childrens ideas. The pergola's gave a sense of structure that vines can be trained upon.

A tactile slate mosaic 'stream' was laid with stainless steel disks interspersed to represent lily pads. Children now walk around the peace garden before entering the pupil development centre which supports them with their personal, emotional and social growth.
